Four in Ten was born out of the common desire to create an inclusive and free space where LGBT people living with mental health problems could meet in peace to discuss our concerns, express our emotions and socialise without fear of prejudice and rejection by the community. We chose the name Four in Ten as this is the approximate number of LGBT people who experience mental health problems, a figure that is higher than for the non LGBT population.  Four in Ten was set up, and is run by, LGBT service users and all decisions are made by the group as a whole; there is no hierarchy. We have close links with the wider LGBT community and the mental health survivor/user movement.
